Hi, I’m James—the guy behind Matching Sock Co.—and this is my family.
This may sound silly but I started this company for me. I was tired of digging through a basket of socks every morning, hoping to find a pair that matched. It was a small daily frustration, but it added up. So I built a better way.
Now, I hope our matching socks bring a little peace to your mornings too—just like they have for mine.

How we got here...
In our household, I do the laundry. I hate cooking and my wife hates laundry... it works for us. Anyway! I've always hated the last part of folding laundry... folding/sorting socks. I hated it so much that I just didn't do it. I would throw them all in a basket and every morning I would go hunting through the basket looking for a matching pair. Usually on the first day of the week it wasn't too bad. But once the dirty laundry basket was full, you could find me hunting through a big pile of laundry getting frustrated for a few minutes or more - not a great way to start your day!
The sock industry
I started searching for socks in bulk - just something simple where every pair matched. But I couldn’t find much. And what I did find didn’t seem trustworthy.
Most big brands sell their socks in 6- or 12-packs, but if you look closely, they usually come in 3 to 6 different color combos per pack. That's what drives the chaos.
After a while, I couldn’t shake the feeling that “Big Sock” likes it this way - more variety means more mismatches, which means we keep coming back to buy more. It’s frustrating… and kind of genius, in a terrible way.
My favorite socks
Not long ago, I bought a pack of socks I really liked.
It sounds silly, but I wore them golfing with new shoes - and came home with zero blisters. That was it. I was convinced they were the best socks ever made.
Just ask my wife - every time we went to the store, I’d check to see if I could find them again. But I never could.
So I decided to solve the problem:
Make a sock I love that I could buy again. And again. And again.
Matching Sock Co. was born
I'm an engineer by trade... so if you put all of these problems together in my head, there HAD to be a solution. But there wasn't. Every week I was staring at a mismatched sock basket that could never be fixed. So I resolved to fix it and Matching Sock Co. was born.
Matching Sock Co. exists to bring a little piece of peace to your laundry day by offering high quality, matching socks in bulk that you will always be able to buy again.
